Obsession

Sweetness cannot soften every burn. A reflection on desire carried too far.

The idea

Honey turns up in poems, songs and the names we give people we love. Spicy food is another attachment of mine. Here, I pour one into the other, as though the things I love must be good together. But sweetness cannot soften every burn, and more heat is not always kinder to the body. The soup becomes a way to ask when pleasure becomes persistence, and when holding on starts to hurt.
